What can't Linux do?

  • Software designed for Microsoft Windows won't run on Linux. Why....?  That's because they are made for Windows! That doesn't mean you're going to miss all your favorite apps. Linux has even better applications than Windows has!.  Just forget all the software you know in Windows, & find out what are available for Linux. Once you feel Linux home, you will understand the advantage of using it. WINE and CrossOver in Linux can help you to run some applications designed for Windows like Adobe Photoshop.  Linux also has a good alternative to Photoshop called GIMP.  If you are a hardcore gamer, Linux won't be the best choice.  The gaming market of Linux is still in early stages.  However, there are games specifically designed for Linux. If you are lucky, WINE will help to play your favorite Windows  games on Linux.  There is no proper open source alternative for Adobe AfterEffects. NukeX does the same job on Linux as a non-free software. (Though, there are promising projects like Jahshaka 3.0, Veejay...)
